Cashin’ In Wins Cable News Twitter on Saturday, and About That Dinner. 4/25/15

It’s Saturday, and Saturday belongs to Fox News’ Cashin’ In.  That’s not news anymore.

Saturday was also the White House Correspondent’s Dinner, which was immensely newsworthy and heavily tweeted.  However, the networks covering it really didn’t have a lot of unique coverage, and so it was virtually impossible to tease out whether the tweets were about CNN’s live streaming vs. MSNBC’s vs. CSPAN’s.  As a result, I didn’t include any metrics.  Fox News pegged their coverage as being Judge Jeanine, so I allocated those time slots to her, but for CNN I did not.  And MSNBC barely covered the event.

I found it amusing that a lot of people people who were in the studio nonetheless dressed up like they were attending the dinner in person.  I don’t get that.  News anchors don’t don bullet-proof vests when covering ISIS from New York.  They don’t wear ski parkas in front of the green screen when covering blizzards.  So why are they wearing evening gowns and black suits when covering a trade-group dinner?  Because they want to look like they belong? It’s a mystery to me.
