Guest Hosts Leave Fox News Short and Allow Chris Hayes to win Cable News Twitter on Friday, 11/7/14

Guest hosts kill buzz.  With Martha MacCallum guesting for Megyn Kelly on Friday, it cleared the decks for All In with Chris Hayes to win Cable News Twitter.  The second best hourly show was RedEye at 3am, followed by Real Time with Bill Maher, Morning Joe, and Hannity.

Clearly, the social media buzz belongs to the hosts, not to the show.  It would have been a worthwhile experiment to have the normal show hosts live-tweet (or at least schedule some show-time tweets in advance) to see if that could keep the buzz alive in their absence.

The Kelly File wins Cable News Twitter on Wednesday, 11/5/14

Election night coverage continued into the first few hours of the day on Wednesday, which tended to disrupt the normal patterns of Twitter chat until the day got underway.  The Kelly File won the best hour, while “The Five” with the host accounts won the best day due to the election coverage overall.
