Cable News Twitter Ratings for October 1, 2013 — The Cycle & Piers Morgan

Yesterday, MSNBC’s The Cycle turned in a great Twitter engagement, scoring more mentions during its broadcast time slot than any other cable news show.  Regardless of whether you include the hosts’ personal accounts or not, it was more than double the runner up, MSNBC’s The Ed Show.  This was reflected in their hashtag being the most used when mentioning any cable news show. For the day, over all, Piers Morgan continued to do better than anyone else.

The networks as a whole all did pretty well with Shutdown news, CNN and MSNBC taking the lead and Fox News pulling up well back in third place.

Cable News Twitter Ratings, Monday September 30, 2013 — Shutdown Edition!

Well, Monday was a busy day on Cable News.  The shutdown triggered a bunch of talk on Twitter about CNN, MSNBC, and (in third place) Fox News.  As for individual shows, The Ed Show won its hour and Piers Morgan won the day — a fairly typical pattern.  Chris Hayes’ 11pm live, second broadcast brought him a lot of additional mentions.  Rachel Maddows’s live broadcast at midnight (which will be reflected in the 10/1 report) brought in over 1000 mentions, although by 1am Tuesday the crowd has started to thin out: The Last Word only garnered 237 mentions.

A big bump hit Chuck Todd on Monday with nearly 7000 daily mentions — good for second place after Piers Morgan.

If nothing else, we can say one thing for sure: the Shutdown is good for Cable News.
